On Monday, October 3, sixteen Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD) students participated in the second annual Fall Graduation Ceremony at Ocean View High School (OVHS). For various reasons, these students did not have the opportunity to graduate back in June.

After the students proceeded into the ceremony during “Pomp and Circumstance,” Ocean View High School Principal, Dr. Courtney Robinson, welcomed the students, distinguished guests, and loved ones in attendance. Steve Curiel, President of the Huntington Beach Adult School (HBAS), then performed the short ceremony, commending each and every student on their achievement. Dr. Alan Rasmussen, Interim Superintendent, also offered the graduates words of wisdom and encouragement.

One by one, the students were then presented their diplomas and congratulated by their respective principal. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, President Duane Dishno acknowledged the students as having met all of the district requirements to have earned a high school diploma. In closing, the students turned their cap tassels from the right to the left and the crowd cheered.

After a summer of hard work, the new high school graduates will move on on to their next life adventure, whether it be pursuing a higher education or entering the workforce. Congratulations to the Fall Class of 2016!
