On October 25, 49 students from the Westminster High School (WHS) MERITS (Math Educational Resources Integrated with Technology and Science) and Health Academy programs attended the third annual Medical Humanities Distinguished Lecture at University of California, Irvine’s Beckman Center for Science.

The night’s keynote speaker, Dr. Theresa Brown, RN, PhD, discussed the importance of nursing in today’s medical profession. Prior to the lecture, students had the opportunity to participate in a Q & A period with Dr. Brown, where she responded to each student’s well thought-out questions about nursing and medical research. Dr. Brown is pictured here with the WHS Lions.

Teachers Eric Brothwell and Dana Braun stated, “This is the first of many trips planned to bring our students to the university to hear those in the tops of the fields and latest in science / medical research.”
