Administrator of Food & Nutrition Services, Lauren Teng, has received the 2018 Golden School Foodservice Director of the Year Award from the national FAME (Foodservice Achievement Management Excellence) Awards program.

The award is the most prestigious honor presented to a school nutrition professional. It recognizes those who have provided outstanding leadership, innovation, service, and achievement within their school districts and communities.

The numerous contributions by Teng to the Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD) Food & Nutrition Services Department include, but is not limited to:

  • Modernizing the Food Service Program
  • Forward-thinking methods to improve student nutrition
  • Modernizing food service delivery options to ensure students have quick
    and easy access to meals through the introduction of mobile food carts, which are
    strategically placed on campus for lunch
  • Introduction of nutrition into the classroom

Teng was honored at a ceremony on Jan. 21 in New Orleans during the School Nutrition Association’s conference.
