Huntington Beach Union High School District is pleased to announce the hiring of four assistant principals, effective July 1.

Assistant Principal – Huntington Beach High School

Edward Begany – Huntington Beach High School

Working in education for over 25 years, Begany recently served as the assistant principal of guidance & athletics for El Toro High School. His past experience includes serving as an assistant principal of athletics and discipline, assistant principal of student services, high school dean of students, teacher, athletic director and coach. In addition, he is currently serving as an adjunct professor at Concordia University.

Begany received his Bachelor of Arts from Whitter College, Master of Science in Educational Administration from National University, and Administrative Services Credential from the University of California, Irvine.

Grave received his Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University, Long Beach and Master of Arts in Education from National University.


Assistant Principal – Edison High School

Amy Sabol – Edison High School

Sabol has had the pleasure of working in education for the past 10 years, serving at the
middle school, high school and collegiate levels. She joins HBUHSD from Dana Hills High School where she has served as an assistant principal of guidance and assistant principal of student services.

Sabol is a proud alumna of the University of Oregon, where she played volleyball while earning her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She obtained her Master of Science in Educational Counseling along with her Administrative Services Credential from National University.


Assistant Principal – Fountain Valley High School

Kelly Skon, Ph.D. – Fountain Valley High School

Skon began her career in education as a mathematics teacher and comes to HBUHSD with eight years teaching experience and three years administrative experience. Most recently, she served as a district coordinator for Saddleback Valley Unified School District overseeing math and science curriculum as well as high school guidance.

Skon received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Chapman University, Master of Arts in Education from Vanguard University, and Doctorate of Philosophy in Education from Chapman University.


Assistant Principal – Marina High School

Tim Grave – Marina High School

Grave began his career in education as a history teacher and athletic director for Garden Grove Unified School District. Over the past four years, he has served as an assistant principal of guidance and assistant principal of student services for Tustin High School. Prior to his career in education, Grave worked in sports marketing at Nike, Inc. where he oversaw the marketing efforts for several Olympic related sports.

Grave received his Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University, Long Beach and Master of Arts in Education from National University.
