This week, the Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD) hosted a new teacher induction for its new educators. It kicked off with the annual district wide bus tour, led by Superintendent Clint Harwick. Teachers had the opportunity to visit to the Giving Farm at Westminster High (and feed the animals), followed by visits to Ocean View High, Academy for the Performing Arts at Huntington Beach High, and ending at the Innovation Lab at Edison High.

The following day, the new hires were welcomed by the Board of Trustees, Superintendent, members of Cabinet, and principals during the annual new teacher orientation. The half-day orientation featured an inspiring speech from one of the 2020 Orange County Teachers of the Year and Marina High teacher, Gavin Ehlers, and covered topics such as policies, best practices, expectations, and other various tools to be successful in the District.

The first day of school for HBUHSD is Aug. 28.
