The Great California ShakeOut

On Oct. 15, the HBUHSD participated district-wide in the Great California ShakeOut, a worldwide earthquake drill. The Great California ShakeOut began in 2008 as an annual occurrence for people in homes, schools and organizations to to practice what to do during earthquakes, and to overall improve preparedness. Once the drill commenced at Huntington Beach High School, students were instructed to get under their desks to practice the “drop, cover and hold on” technique. OCSBA honors HBUHSD Board President, Susan Henry

Susan Henry, the HBUHSD Board of Trustees President, was honored with the Marian Bergeson Award at a ceremony held on Oct. 7 at the Irvine Marriott Hotel. This award is presented once a year by the Orange County School Boards Association (OCSBA) to a deserving trustee who has provided outstanding governing board service and community service to promote and enhance public education within the county. Rookie of the Year

October 6, 2015 the Huntington Beach Union High School District presented Mr. Jake Lee with the Rookie of the Year Award. The Rookie of the Year Award is given to a new district teacher who shows promise, dedication and goes the extra mile for their students. Mr. Lee is a beloved science teacher for Fountain Valley High School.
