The Huntington Beach Union High School District prides itself on continuously making decisions with student safety as the highest priority.  That’s why, around a year ago, the district purchased the Zonar System to implement and install on all HBUHSD school buses.Zonar provides GPS fleet tracking, Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) scanning and management solutions for large operations, such as a school district with many buses. Monday, September 21st, Edison High School held the Brian F. Garland Library Dedication and Reception on campus. Brian Garland began his career with Edison High School in 1969, the same year the school opened for the community of Huntington Beach. For 30 years, Garland worked as a teacher, counselor and administrator at Edison High School and was described to truly love his job and doing anything he could to help kids. Tuesday September 15th, the Huntington Beach Union High School District presented its 2015 Fall Graduation Ceremony at the Ocean View High School theater.  This year’s ceremony included 19 accomplished students, all who beamed with excitement as they walked out to the customary “Pomp and Circumstance” song. Several HBUHSD personnel attended the commencement including Superintendent Greg Plutko, the entire Board of Trustees, principals, and the Superintendent’s cabinet members. Boeing Company Books + Backpacks drive

The Boeing Company branch in Huntington Beach recently held their annual Books + Backpacks Drive where employees donated their time and money to back-to-school shop for local students. Advanced Space Exploration Systems Engineer, Ashley Williams and her team at Boeing (pictured) stuffed a HBUHSD truck with thoughtfully selected backpacks full of school supplies and books.  Boeing is the world’s largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and defense, space and security systems.These backpacks were then donated to the El Viento Foundation for distribution throughout the district.
