Westminster High School claims Division 2 state championship at California Academic Decathlon

Following a long weekend of fierce competition, Westminster High School (WHS) earned first place (Division 2) at the California Academic Decathlon competition in Sacramento, CA! In addition to being crowned Division 2 state champions, the Lions received 14 individual medals including six gold, four silver, and four bronze in the categories of art, economics, essay, literature, mathematics, music, social science, and overall.  The team has also earned an overall state ranking of 14th. Westminster High School receives national recognition for successful AVID strategies

Westminster High School (WHS) has been selected as a National Demonstration School by AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), a nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and other postsecondary options. With this new recognition, Westminster High School joins approximately 150 other AVID National Demonstration Schools and was selected through an application process, screening, and review, which included a site visit. Upcoming District Art Show set to showcase hundreds of student-created works

Starting March 24, the Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD) will host the 2017 District Art Show — an annual showcase of student artwork from all school sites.
