On August 26, Edison High School (EHS) graduate and Olympic Gold Medalist, Tom Shields, served as the varsity football team’s honorary captain. Prior to the game, Tom proudly displayed his gold medal at the captain’s meeting as he performed the coin toss.

On August 13, Tom became a gold medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics in the men’s 400-meter medley relay for racing in prelims of the event.  This was Tom’s first time performing in the Olympics.

With Tom on the sidelines, Edison improved their record to 2-0 with a 31-14 win over Tesoro High School. Even more than usual, Charger pride was widespread that night at Cap Sheue Stadium.
