On Tuesday, Oct. 20, the Huntington Beach Union High School District Board of Trustees recognized the 2015 “Rookie of the Year,” Mr. Jake Lee of Fountain Valley High School. Jake currently teaches chemistry for the FVHS Barons.
Principal of Fountain Valley High School, Dr. Morgan Smith, also attended the meeting in Jake’s honor. Dr. Smith addressed the room in order to praise Jake’s love for education and relentless dedication to supporting his students. Each year, this distinguished award is presented to a new district teacher who shows passion for being an educator and continuously goes the extra mile for his or her students.

Also at the meeting, Dr. Greg Plutko, Superintendent, took the time to present Board President, Susan Henry, and Board Clerk, Bonnie Castrey, with flowers to further recognize their awarding of the Marian Bergeson Award from the Orange County School Board Association (OCSBA). President Henry was just recently recognized with the award on Oct. 7, and Trustree Castrey back in 2013.
