Edison High earns two new CIF titles

Congratulations to both the Edison High School (EHS) football team and girls volleyball team for winning their respective California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) championship games on December 2, 2016. The girl’s volleyball team swept Menlo-Atherton High School in the Division 1 state final game at Santiago Canyon College.  In doing so, they earned the first state title for the school’s program history. On Wednesday, November 16, Huntington Beach High School (HBHS) had the privilege of hosting Tyler Durman (pictured below), a well-known motivational speaker who specializing in talking to and about teens across the country.  Tyler spoke to students about caring relationships and a growth mindset during two assemblies.  For the HBHS Oilers, listening to Tyler was like watching a good movie — he will make you laugh, make you cry and ultimately, leave you thinking about life and how you want to live it. Ocean View High renames gymnasium as tribute to late coach Jim Harris

Coach Harris’ son, Jimmy Harris, is a teacher and assistant coach at the school. The Ocean View High School (OVHS) gymnasium will now officially be known as the Jim Harris Gymnasium in honor of the legendary, late basketball coach.  On November 26, hundreds of former players, current students, alumni, family, and friends gathered to help the school make the renaming official.
